Foard County Traffic Courts Are Separate
Foard traffic cases begin in one of two lower courts. The countywide Justice of the Peace, Katy Marlow, handles county and precinct matters. Crowell Municipal Court handles city traffic and ordinance cases. Each has its own citation portal, clerk, and phone-payment line. The correct court is usually identified by the court name or location printed on the citation.
| Court | Case type | Contact and lookup |
|---|---|---|
| Foard County JP | Countywide and precinct traffic, fine-only cases | (940) 684-1917, Katy Marlow |
| Crowell Municipal Court | City traffic, ordinance, Class C matters | (940) 684-1014, Gary Whitley |
A Crowell city citation goes to the city court, not the JP portal. The Crowell city-court details explain the separate local route.
How Traffic Warrants Work in Foard County
A traffic citation creates a court case. Missing a required date or response can lead to failure-to-appear process and an arrest warrant under Texas law. After judgment, failure to pay fine and costs may lead to a capias pro fine under Chapter 45A after required procedures, including hardship consideration where applicable.
The JP and Crowell Municipal Court have separate records. Neither portal is described as a complete warrant search, and Foard posts no warrant update schedule. A citation may show a case without showing whether the court has issued, recalled, or served a warrant.
Foard County Traffic Citation Fields
The two portals expose the same basic number search, but each reaches only its own court. The required-field status is not stated on the landing pages. They do not offer a name, birth-date, warrant-number, or status field.
| Visible field | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search type | Radio/select | Not stated | Citation/Ticket Number or Case/Cause Number |
| Citation/Ticket Number | Text | Not stated | May include letters; try without a leading zero if a search fails. |
| Case/Cause Number | Text | Not stated | Exact local format is not posted. |
The Foard JP portal is at the Justice of the Peace citation search. Search there only for a JP case.
The portal leads to a citation search, terms, payment, receipt, and record-search flow. It does not promise a warrant flag or bond display.
Foard County Traffic Warrant Checks
Start with the JP or Crowell Municipal Court printed on the ticket. Search by citation/ticket number or case/cause number, then call the issuing court about FTA, warrant, or capias status. The Sheriff can confirm law-enforcement status, while a written PIA request is for existing non-exempt agency records. Judicial records must go to the court or clerk.
- Read the court name on the citation and choose the matching Foard JP or Crowell portal.
- Search by citation/ticket number or case/cause number. The public screens do not offer a name or date-of-birth search.
- Call the JP at (940) 684-1917 or Crowell Municipal Court at (940) 684-1014 to ask whether a warrant or capias exists.
- If needed, ask the clerk how to request the court file or appear; the courthouse ADA entrance is at the west basement door.
- Call the Sheriff at (940) 684-1501 if the court says the warrant is executable or directs a law-enforcement check.
Foard County Citation Number Quirks
Both nCourt pages say a citation may include a letter, with 123456A shown as an example. If a search with a leading zero does not work, the portal says to try it without the zero. These are format tips, not a warrant search method.
The portals also say to allow five days from the citation date before trying to pay online. Their phone-payment schedules are separate: the JP uses (844) 544-6314 and Crowell Municipal Court uses (844) 544-6316. Call the clerk first if the matter may already be in warrant or capias status.
Foard County Traffic Warrants: What They Show
Foard's public citation pages do not expose warrant number, status, bond, or offense fields before a record is searched. The following are questions for the court, not fields guaranteed to appear on the portal. The citation example reflects the portal's format guidance only.
| Citation | 123456A is the portal's format example, not a Foard case number. |
|---|---|
| Cause number | Accepted as a search choice; exact format is not posted. |
| Issuing court | Foard County JP or Crowell Municipal Court, based on citation jurisdiction. |
| Warrant or capias | Not displayed as a search field on the landing page; ask the court. |
| Fine, bond, status | Local values and status codes were not published before record lookup. |
Foard County Traffic Payment May Not Recall
An online payment may satisfy a citation balance, but Foard's portal pages do not say that paying automatically recalls a separate warrant or removes an FTA entry. Ask the court whether the status requires an appearance, payment plan, hardship review, community service, bond, or motion. No Foard payment-plan form or warrant-recall form was located.
If a payment is allowed, use the correct court's portal and keep the receipt. Then ask when the court will update its record and whether it has reported any FTA/FTP clearance to DPS or OmniBase.
Clearing a Foard County Traffic Warrant
First ask the issuing JP or Municipal Court what remedy applies to the specific case. Payment, a reset, a hardship hearing, a payment arrangement, community service, bond, or a motion may be available depending on the case. The portal landing page alone does not explain which option clears an FTA or capias.
- Confirm whether the ticket belongs to the JP or Crowell court and ask for its cause or citation number.
- Ask whether the case has an FTA warrant or capias pro fine and what the court requires to recall it.
- Use the correct payment portal or phone line only if the court confirms it applies to the warrant status.
- If appearance, bond, or surrender is required, ask the court and Sheriff for the exact procedure before going.
- Keep written proof of payment or recall and confirm the court's report to DPS/OmniBase, if any.
Warning: Paying a citation is not proof that an FTA warrant was recalled. Ask the issuing court to confirm both the case balance and warrant status.
Foard County License Holds Differ from Warrants
The Texas Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program can lead to license-renewal denial when a participating court reports an unresolved violation. OmniBase says its database does not contain warrant information. Resolve each reporting court separately; DPS cannot remove a report based only on a person's proof of payment.
The OmniBase individual FAQ explains the hold's limit. DPS says processing may take up to seven business days after the court closes or clears a matter, but that is an agency estimate, not a Foard guarantee.
A license hold can exist without a public warrant result, and a warrant can exist without an OmniBase entry. Ask about both records separately.
How Foard County Traffic Warrants Trigger License Holds
One citation may create several records, but they are not the same thing. A warrant is court process authorizing arrest; an FTA is a missed appearance; a license-renewal hold is a report to the state program. Confirm the citation, warrant, and license status with their respective offices.
| Mechanism | What Triggers It | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic warrant | Court issues process after a case event | Authorizes arrest; court controls recall |
| Failure to appear (FTA) | Required court date is missed | May lead to a warrant or capias |
| License-renewal hold | Participating court reports an unresolved FTA/FTP matter | Can block renewal; not a warrant lookup |
